Simon has practised in Bunbury with Young & Young for more than 20 years and leads their commercial and property practice. He has extensive experience in a wide range of commercial transactions and is an experienced litigator. Drawing on his experience as a lawyer, and his community service activities, Simon has extensive knowledge of good governance, risk management and strategic planning practices.
Simon joined Young & Young after graduating from Murdoch University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons). He was admitted into practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1995. Simon has worked in a wide range of jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court of WA, Family Court of WA, Federal Court of Australia, District Court of WA, Magistrates Court of WA, State Administrative Tribunal, Fair Work Tribunal and Financial Ombudsman Service.
Simon worked in Perth for WA’s largest independent law firm after graduating, but having grown up in regional Western Australia Simon was keen to return to the regions. Simon relocated to Bunbury in 1996, with his wife, Marilyn Buttacio, when he joined Young & Young. Simon is a past President of a local Rotary Club and has served on and advised a range of not for profit Boards (including as Chair).
